Demetra McBride

Bureau Chief, Office of Sustainability and Environmental Management (Arlington County, Virginia) has spent 17 years innovating climate and resiliency programming. In California, McBride carved out new, innovative, independent roles for local governments in the energy sector including creation of Regional Energy Networks, proliferation of Community Choice Aggregation, and early adoption of clean transportation systems.

Her climate resilience work earned state and Congressional recognition as the best practice model, using calculation of future risk to support future-facing investments. In Arlington, McBride has restructured its climate, energy and stormwater programs, and driven a countywide, matrixed model that embeds climate and resilience across all departments and services.
