Yolanda Bichara

Architect, with a master’s degree in Business Administration and Management, specialization in Land Management and Policies and postgraduate studies in Environmental Studies.

She has more than 20 years of experience in the private sector, mainly in the areas of management, territorial planning, urban design and design and architectural supervision of construction projects. She has also worked for more than 12 years in the public sector, where she has contributed to the direction of the Area of Project Procedures and Urban Planning and Construction Standards, with experience in construction permits, analysis and formation of urban policies and instruments of territorial planning and management. She has put special emphasis on the approval and implementation of the Master Plan for the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador, the Sustainable Urban Habitats Guide, the Urban Compensation System and the Metropolitan Investment Fund, as main planning instruments for urban development and a better management of city works in the metropolitan area of San Salvador.

Among her awards, it is worth mentioning that she was recognised as Architect of the Year 2017 by the Salvadoran Association of Engineers and Architects (ASIA), being the first woman in the history of El Salvador to be named with that title.
