Mayor of Bogotá. She began her term on January 1, 2020 for a four-year term. She was elected with 1,108,000 votes, the highest total count of any mayor in the city’s history. She became the city’s first woman mayor in Bogotá’s history.
López has focused on environmental, social equity and anti-corruption programs. She was a vice-presidential candidate in the 2018 presidential elections for the Alianza Verde party, and senator of the Republic of Colombia between 2014 and 2018.
She is graduated in Finance and International Relations from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, has a master’s degree in Public Administration and Urban Policy from Columbia University and a PhD in Political Science from Northwestern University.
